Should I let my cat have one litter of kittens before getting spayed?

- This was a very common thought for a long time, but more recent research has shown that waiting to spay your cats can increase the risk of developing mammary cancer , and has not been proven to affect the maternal instincts of a cat.

- Pregnancy also has its own risks and complications that can occur. Male cats also have risks and complications that are associated with being left intact.

- Cat litters usually range from 4-6 kittens each. Without a plan and resources to care for a litter of kittens, these new additions can become very costly.
